Learn about the Watertronics solutions to pump surges and check valve slam

The Electronic Butterfly Valve is a stand alone pump controller designed to regulate pressure or flow, sustain backpressure, and eliminate pump starting and stopping surges.

Key features of this system:

  • Reliable and continuous pressure regulation and 100% backup pressure regulation
  • Elimination of pump start/stop surges and check valve slam
  • Rejection of pump column air prior to entering the irrigation system

Centre Pivots Show Immediate Efficiencies For Dubbo Turf Grower

Kim Chandler - Thursday, April 19, 2012

Traditionally, turf grown for commercial purposes has been irrigated using labour intensive hand shift pipes. However, Brett Sweeting from Turf the Lot Dubbo is now reaping the benefits of upgrading to Zimmatic Centre Pivots. Turf the Lot leases 2 properties, one with a 186m Zimmatic centre pivot on an 8 hectare paddock and another part circle 285m centre pivot on 14 hectares.Brett said “We are now using half the amount of water we traditionally used and the centre pivot efficiencies is saving us thousands of dollars in labour. Whilst the investment in the Zimmatic centre pivots is a costly initial outlay, labour savings produced by the centre pivot efficiencies pays for the capital outlay very quickly. For example I believe we are saving $2000 per month on labour costs on the 14 hectare property alone.”

Centre Pivots

Leanne O'Sullivan - Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Imagine integrating your Pump Network with your Irrigation Network

Imagine operating your Pumps and Pivots via the Internet or your Mobile Phone

TEAM Irrigation now can offer Lindsay Corporation's industry first fully-integrated pump and centre pivot irrigation monitoring and control package. This means, for the first time growers have the ability to use a combination of cutting edge irrigation and pump control technology, all in one package, to save energy, water and labour costs.

In December 2009, Lindsay Corporation, maker of Zimmatic irrigation systems, announced the addition of pump control to its award-winning FieldNET Web-based irrigation management system. With this addition, growers will be able to access a single portal to monitor and control their entire pump and centre pivot irrigation system.

FieldNET, the industry's first full control Web-based irrigation management system, allows growers to monitor and control their pivots from any internet connection or cell phone. With a user-friendly Web portal, FieldNET provides growers a quick view of every pivot, providing information on pivot location, pivot status and water usage.

With FieldNET pump control, growers now have information on their entire water delivery system, allowing them to monitor and maintain each pump and pivot for peak performance. This integrated solution automatically tracks and reports pump start-ups and shutdowns and sends alerts for any disparity of normal operations, such as flow alarms.

By integrating the pump network with the pivot network, Lindsay Manufacturing created a pump and centre pivot irrigation system that is self-regulating. A unique solution called Dynamic Demand Control (DDC) automatically lowers the pump's pressure requirement when higher pressures are not needed so the system is always running at maximum efficiency. This significantly reduces the grower's water, energy and labour costs while providing the convenience of controlling or monitoring the pump and pivot system from anywhere on the globe via the Internet.

TEAM Irrigation will be installing their first Watertronics pump station inclusive of this FieldNET pump control system at the Tamworth Waste Water Scheme.

The above pumps are under construction at Watertronics Wisconsin factory. A total of 5 pumps will be manifolded together in the pump station, tested and delivered to Australia late July 2010. This pump station will have a system capacity of up to 736 litres per second or 54 megalitres per day at 70m head pressure.
